Brent Twaddle
Mission mastermind, mower maker, mower driver and all-round good guy!
Brent Twaddle is the kind of Kiwi–Aussie larrikin you cannot help but admire, quick with a joke, happiest outdoors, and always ready to lend a hand. At 71, he’s still powered by the same grit and good humour that shaped him growing up, but beneath the cheeky grin is something even stronger, a passion for the greater good.
Diagnosed with Von Willebrand Disease at age 30, Brent knows firsthand the challenges of living with a lifelong bleeding disorder. His daughter Megan also inherited the condition, making this mission deeply personal. Now, Brent is taking on his biggest challenge yet, driving a John Deere X750 mower 2,722 kilometres straight down the centre of Australia to raise vital funds for VWD research at Westmead Hospital.
It’s an adventure only Brent would dream up: a mower, a homemade trailer, a long red road, and a mission that matters. Every kilometre he travels is a pledge of support for people living with VWD, including his own family.
Brent isn’t doing this for recognition. He’s doing it because that’s who he is. A true friend. A determined bloke. A man who believes that if you can help, you should.
And with every rotation of the wheels, he’s proving that one person, even on a mower, can make a real difference.
